Sponsors
The Association for Marine Exploration was founded with the specific intent of facilitating marine exploration and discovery through the aid of tax-deductible donations and sponsorships. Currently in its infancy, AME is just starting to solicit monetary and in-kind contributions. The individuals and companies listed below have generously supported the efforts of AME in various ways, and we thank them most sincerely!
General Electric
General Electric provided the first major cash funding for the Association for Marine Exploration -- a check for $45,000. This contribution will support several AME exploration projects, and has given our humble organization a real boost. Very special thanks to Jeffrey Immelt (CEO of GE) and Beth Comstock (Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer) for their support!
The most important factor in any deep dive is the breathing mixture, and having the right breathing mixture depends on having the right tools to analyze the gas -- both when filling cylinders, and while diving with closed-circuit rebreathers. We are especially grateful to Teledyne Instruments, both for their contribution of an advanced "MixCheck" combination helium & oxygen gas analyzer, and for producing the high-quality oxygen sensors that we use in our rebreather gear. Our lives literally depend on them!
Atlantis Adventures Oahu provided AME with 68 pails of Sofnolime® 8-12 grade carbon dioxide absorbent -- more than enough to sustain us for several major expeditions!
Gates Underater Products, Inc. has generously donated an underwater housing for our Sony PC-110 digital video camera, which will allow us to obtain high-quality videotape images of the deep-reef habitats that we explore. We have a history of using Gates housings, and have found them to be extremely reliable, even in the harshest of conditions. No other brand of housing has delivered such a consistently high level of performance for us over the years, and we gratefully acknowledge Gates for their support of our exploratory efforts.
Dive Rite provided three Nitek HE decompression computers, along with the associated PC software, for use by divers on AME projects as both a source of primary decompression information, and to serve as backup. Also, Dive Rite was the primary sponsor for an expedition to Pully Ridge, north of the Dry Tortugas, in June 2005. Pully Ridge is purported to be the deepest coral reef in the United States, and AME BOD member Richard Pyle was invited to participate on the expedtion. We at AME thank Dive Rite both for their generous support, and also for manufacturing some of the best dive equipment available (some of the AME divers have been using Dive Rite equipment for more than 15 years).
Gallant Aquatic Ventures International has contributed significant resources to establish this organization. GAVI is a recognized leader in providing quality services and products associated with advanced diving techniques.
All of us at AME have turned to Patrick Duffy at OxyCheq as our trusted source for oxygen sensors, analyzers, and other gadgets; but we are especially grateful for his direct contributions to AME, and for his assistance in securing sponsorship from Teledyne Technologies, Inc. Thanks, Pat, for doing what you do so well, and for helping us fulfill AME's mission!
Jack Randall and his wife Helen generously donated a brand-new iMac computer to AME. This computer will allow us to edit video and perform other tasks related to AME's projects. The Randalls' generosity is very-much appreciated!
SeaBotix, Inc., manufacturer of high-quality ROVs and related products, provided two of their SBT150A thruster motors to AME for use in the development of an electric underwater "vacuum cleaner" used for collecting fish and invertebrate specimens on deep dives. We thank SeaBotix for their generosity, and commend them for their commitment to Education and Non-profit research organizations!
Ryan Wallace of Rubicon Express supported us with BOTH time and money. Ryan donated significant time and served admirably as a volunteer safety diver during the West Oahu expedition, as well as supplying both helium and oxygen -- without which the expedition would not have been possible.
We have used Poseidon regulators extensively on our rebreather onboard, offboard, and bailout cylinders, and have found them to have lived up to or exceeded their stellar reputation as reliable and dependable for demanding diving situations. Poseidon Diving Systems has generously supported AME in the form of regulator repair kits, allowing us to service our regulators during expeditions to remote parts of the world. We thank the people at Poseidon for their high standards and dedication to quality diving equipment, and for supporting our organization!
